Hello all,
I hate to be that person, but I keep checking my status with no avail on any notification. It says "Application has been submitted online Your electronic application has been received and is being processed..." My question is if it is normal to take this long to receive any notification? I see quite a few people on this thread who received the scholarship. I turned it in September. What is the latest that I will get notification about the scholarship? Thanks in advance.

You could be waiting until late April for a final decision. It could come earlier. Typically the status goes through these steps:
At Recruiter Level for Processing
To
At NRC level for Processing
To
At NSTC for Processing
To
At NSTC, Board Ready
To
Pending Decision

Have you had your officer interview? After the interview did the status change to "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application"?

My application says "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application." and "No decision has been made on your application."
I'm waiting for the third (or is it the fourth?) board results to see if I've been picked up, I submitted it in early August.

Yes, my status is what metsycats says, which is different than the options 5Day laid out. I'm confused.

My DS application says "No decision has been made on your application " as well. I spoke with a senior NROTC officer and he said this is what it is suppose to say after submitting all materials. He said next board is Monday November 14. Hope this helps.

So where would you say my process is at? I finished in mid September, so is it at the nrc level?

I just feel the need to remind everyone that when a board completes, if you were not selected by that board, your application will automatically roll over to the next board. One may not hear a positive or negative reply until April. Keep working on alternate plans in the interim and be prepared to execute them at the proper time. Remember that college deposits are not due until May 1 in most cases. When DS received a negative reply in mid-April, we still had plenty of time to execute plan B which was the same as plan A, except it involved enrolling in NROTC without the scholarship.

Your status will say "No decision has been made on your application " prior to being boarded and after it has been boarded. Basically, they do not notify you when it has gone to the board. So the wait will continue until they make a decision. That decision could be made at the first board when they review the application or it will continue to roll through boards till the by the end of April or until they make a decision. The wait is difficult but hang in there.

@Wcyeung123 if you completed your application and you have had your officer interview, I would think that by now you application should say "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application." (basically forwarded from the regional office to the national office). Since it does not I would reach out to your NROTC contact or the officer that completed the interview and ask if there is any missing information and if your application has been forwarded for boarding.

I'm going to contact my coordinator today. I have no items waiting to be processed on the status portal, but I'll find out.

Update, so I was told that it was kicked back because of my ACT english scores. Just one point and I'll be elligible, now I have to prep for December ACT.

Being eligible is not the same as being competitive. Try to pull that score up as much as possible. Also, keep in mind that the ACT score isn't everything (as long as you're eligible). Of course I know I'm preaching to the choir. Good luck!

Hello everyone,
I am prepping for the upcoming ACT. However, my biggest fear is that there won't be any slots left. I guess it is just anxiety from school and the nonstop ACT prep, but I see on this forum that applicants received their 4 year scholarship early. Is it still possible for me to receive one now, even though many applicants received one?

It's possible to receive a scholarship until mid-April. The later it goes the more likely it's three year, but it's always possible to land a 4 year. Qit worrying about what you can't control and focus on what you can control. It will serve you in good stead throughout life. Good luck!

Agree with Kinnem (as usual).
Focus on the things you CAN control:
  • Work hard on the ACT which is something that is in your own hands.
  • Keep the GPA as high as possible.
  • Be prepped for the MOC interviews (if not completed yet).
  • Lock and load plans B, C, D, etc.
  • Narrow down affordable school choices that fit with enrolling as a college program mid.
  • Consider applying for other branch ROTC scholarships. What about OCS?
Developing a series of contingency plans and you will reduce your anxiety. Hope for the best but be thoroughly prepared for the worst.

^^yep it is very possible to receive a 4 year late....DD and a the ones who made it to the final cut didn't find out Yay or nay until last week of April. AF was the first they heard from then Army. Navy was the very last. There was somewhere like 20ish in our area waiting for the NROTC answer. 2 of the 6 left standing at our school received the full NROTC. We had 2 weeks to switch the school. It was switched very easily and quickly.

Finding out so late is a bit of a juggle.

For NROTC HS seniors are awarded 4 year scholarships. Two and three year scholarships are awarded to participants in the college program, a HS student would not receive a three year scholarship.

Yes NROTC scholarships have been awarded, but there are still plenty left for you to win one. There is a January deadline and there will be scholarships available for someone who submits their application at the last minute. That is why the bulk of the awards will come out after the January deadline.

Thanks 5Day. I had forgotten NROTC only gave 4 year scholarships for high school awardees.
