    Hi all,

I haven't been able to find a straight answer on this. Does "Selection Status:
No decision has been made on your application." mean that your application is board ready and could it possibly have been reviewed already?

    Thanks!

Your packet is complete and you are still in the mix. The board meets several times a year. My DS did not hear a final answer until April and had his packet complete and turned in the first part of October. Now its a waiting game. Good luck.

+1 Our son's coordinator told him he would not know if he had been boarded until either he's notified of a selection or he gets the TWE.

Those boarded but not selected are rolled into the pool and continue to be boarded until all scholarships are awarded and they either get selected or TWE'd.

Don't give up hope and if commissioning is the goal, there are many ways to get there. Keep checking your email, retaking SAT/ACT and submitting scores and keep your grades up!

It's a shame NROTC does not have a status change to "Boarded" like AROTC has on their portal. At least then you would know if your file had even gone before the board yet or not. In the past, it has been said that the NROTC board only reviews "x" number of files per board, so it could take many boards before your file had even been seen. Once it was seen (boarded), your file was given a holistic score. The board sets the minimum score that will be awarded and if your score doesn't hit it, then it is set aside until later boards. As the round of boards continue and they find not enough applicants have the high score that they had set, then they may lower the minimum score for the next round of boards. This would then mean if your score that had previously not been high enough to be awarded a scholarship now is, then you will be awarded the scholarship, along with everybody else from the previous boards who had been scored at that level. They keep doing this until they have awarded the total number of scholarships that they would like to offer for that year's class. The unknown that nobody has ever 100% confirmed is, once your file is boarded and you have been "scored" can you really ever be given any more points if you now have another leadership position that you earn or if you increase your SAT/ACT scores? Some have said that once your boarded that your scores are lock and others have said that if you have an increased test score, for example, that your score can still be increased. It sure would be nice to know with 100% certainty which is correct. We have been told that the Academies DO give you credit if your test score improve while awaiting appointment decisions.

Out of curiosity, didn't they use to state via email or snail mail...At this time you were not selected and will be boarded at the next board?

Maybe my old pea brain is thinking AF/AROTC. Or maybe they did, but found that the email/snail caused their phones to ring off the hook at HQ and now they don't do it.
~ Similar to years ago how candidates applying for both an SA appointment and ROTC scholarship found out on their DoDMERB account before the results were released. They closed that loophole years ago, so nobody do a Snoopy over the dog bowl. However, that was how our DS found out back in the day. It changed under ROTC portion to say scholarship several days prior to the communication from HQ AFROTC. Which is why I am asking, did they at one time write to the candidate... At this time... Thus, they knew they were boarded.

Either way, right now the fat lady is just arriving to the Opera Hall. She has yet to start to warm up her pipes! She is in her dressing room reading the cards on the flowers from people. December, she is getting dressed. Jan. She is walking into the wings. Now come February, I would say that the audience is filling up the seats and you can hear the faint tone of her voice. Mid March it is full on. Beginning of April it is her last song! End of April it is her encore.

Not last year. My son's app was in Pensacola by Labor day and we didn't hear a peep until March 28th when he was awarded the scholarship. His status always said "no decision" until the scholarship posted.

Yes. It is board ready and may even have been reviewed by the board.

They have done this in the past for Marine options but then there are only 2 boards with a large gap between them. I don't think they have ever done this for Navy options.

To OP: We never heard a final, negative reply until early April but still in plenty of time to execute plan B which included NROTC as a college programmer. More than one way to skin a cat. Just make sure you're working plans B,C,D, and E so you have one of them ready to go, just in case.

Could you all tell me if the following means that the application is 'Not' quite board ready yet?

    Thanks.

Application has been submitted online Your electronic application has been received and is being processed ...
Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected.
