I’m a retired Naval Officer and was wondering if anyone is aware of USAFA allowing officer parents to administer the oath of office separately at some point during in-processing. I know the USNA allows for this. Thank you.

I've not 'heard' of this being done on I-Day. Maybe others on the forum have (?). Clearly, at graduation, you may administer the oath at the pinning ceremony for 2nd Lieutenant. Nothing is noted in the Appointee Booklet for the C/O 2027 so I recommend reaching out to Admissions (after your son/daughter receives an appointment). The listed email is listed in the booklet as usafa.admissions.programs@usafa.edu.

(Forget this, keep reading to end) During any time alone with your new cadet, I am sure you could stage a photo op of an oath-taking and do the words between yourselves. It will mean just as much. The paperwork is all done, and the class will be officially sworn in as a group. That is essentially what it is at USNA, as parents do not see their plebe in uniform until they are released for a brief period after the group swear-in.

Now, I don’t know how USAFA I-Day works, so I don’t know if there is any window for a quick exchange.

As @Academician notes, there doesn’t seem to be any guidance n the Appointee guide; you can google the Class of 2027 one.

Ah - a little more digging - belay my last - read this - you drop him off, USAFA owns him, no more contact:

If I-Day is the same as it was last year, you'll drop your kid off without even being allowed to get out of the car. You'll then drive away and see them again about 6 weeks later if you go to the Acceptance Parade. No options for personal interaction after they get out of your car. It's tough to even get a picture of their back as they walk away, as they'll be shooing you away quickly.

From someone with experience with I-Day, this has not been something that is traditionally offered. Upon commissioning cadets are welcome to choose who administers the oath.

Dated info, but parents don't get to interact with their basics after drop-off on I day. You can give them the oath when they commission.
