AF, it was announced this a.m...many of you had already left WP by the time it was announced on the news. My cadet hadn't heard until I told him on the way home from Hartsfield.
Personally, I feel President Obama is using the USMA cadets as props, since he doesn't really have any ties to or even like the military. But I'm just saying...
I don't think thats fair. The USMA cadets are going to be directly affected by this decision, and the President wishes to lay his plan out directly to them. He absolutely has ties to the military, he is the commander in chief of the armed forces
I just heard someone complaining on the radio because the Charlie Brown Christmas special is being pre-empted by this non-announcement announcement.

An acquaintance I know at USMA said that, especially in person, the president seemed to lack belief in what he was saying. Any comments from current cadets?
No I heard nothing of the kind from my cadet. If you do choose to become a service academy cadet or rotc cadet you will have to learn to edit what you post on public boards especially about your commander in chief.

I said nothing bad about the commander in chief. I watched the speech live and thought he composed himself quite well. I was simply curious as to the perceptions of the cadets. Tone of voice is different live from television. I attribute some of what my friend said to the tiredness of the cadets, having sat in Eisenhower Hall for so long. I did not mean my post to in any way be interpreted as an insult to our president. I am sorry if it came across as such. However, I believe one of the most important aspects of our country is the freedom to discuss and question actions of the government- that does not mean that as I military member I would insult and/or defy them in any way. Please do not take my posed question as such.
