Official USAFA Class of 2017 Appointment thread

Kind of a relief

Thanks for the reprieve in the cycle of worry and release, rinse and repeat. This means our DS can focus on this weekend's 242km relay race without running from the finish line to the nearest internet cafe to check his portal. *momsings/songroans*

Wow - this is so suspenseful! After preparing for 5 years, these last few weeks seem like they are taking forever. We are leaving on the 20th to spend our final spring break with DS in London and Paris. Looks like we will be burning through our international data plan checking the portal or hopefully finding coffee shops with free wi-fi!

Husband and I are flying out West for our Navy son's graduation from DLI at the end of next week. If my son gets "THE" call, we likely won't be here to celebrate with him. :frown:

My son heard from a friend who has also applied. His friend has a parent who graduated from USAFA and still has many contacts there.

Combined with the following info posted last week it all seems to fit. This week (11-15 March) would be the "fine tuning" week.

"I spoke with my Admissions Counselor this morning and he told me that the Board is meeting all this week and will be fine tuning their choices next week. He told me to expect a change in my appointment status (whether I've received one or not) in late march to early april.

I know this is kind of random. I'm a senior, Accepted USNA 2017, hopefully I'll hear finally about USMA soon as well but I came to this forum just to see what the status with all the USAFA candidates were. I saw your comment about a 242km relay race happening this weekend. That wouldn't happen to be the Dead to Red in Jordan would it? I'm asking because I'm studying in Jordan right now in an Arabic immersion program and have lots of friends running that same race and I would be as well if the weekend wasn't double booked.

Sorry for the random comment but my curiosity has been aroused.

No lunch surprise

So happy to hear about the appointments listed. At this point in the game you know you have done everything you could and now you just hope it was enough. My Mom about flipped out today because she is the Chamber Director and when she got to her membership luncheon a representative from our Congressman's office was there and she thought he might be delivering some postivie news our way...no such luck he was just there for lunch:eek:

Northeast???

Have the candidates from Northeast (New Jersey, New York, etc.) been notified yet? I see a lot of Texans here. What's up with that?

Texas is a BIG state. I don't think the board does it by area or region. I'm certain they do it congressionally in no specific order, perhaps by competitiveness.
 
Texas

About 10% of the Armed Forces are Texans. Just the nature of the state I guess.
 
We know of a few in AR and WI, but they aren't on the list. I guess they are unaware of this forum. I am so curious just how many have actually been appointed. We are still waiting...........................
