OM Gosh.. My school staff is SO DUMB!

Awards Night

Our school actually makes us a little mad because they won't actually let the award/scholarship be presented to the individual. Like last year they wouldn't let the ALO present to my daughter, nor will they let her present the FF Scholarship this year..... BUT at least they announce it and put it up on the big screen with the students name. uugghh :frown:

That is just wrong......

but I guess the principal did volunteer that if the Academy can't have anyone there for either girl she will do the presentation herself..

Do your schools recognize ROTC scholarships? You know, like AROTC 4-Years and the like?

yes they do

I'm pretty sure my school doesn't know what the ROTC scholarship is. I keep getting asked if I enlisted and I keep giving the same answer. Almost no one knows that the ROTC scholarship is just as competitive as the other scholarships. So I wasn't really sure how to tell them.

Find out the value of that scholarship and let them know....
this is just crazy!!!

It would be pretty awesome and it definitely would clear up all the questions people have if someone came and presented me with the scholarship at our senior awards ceremony. I don't know if anyone else has the AROTC scholarship from our school though, since my graduating class is about 900 students...

You and your daughter will recognize her accomplishment

Whatever your school does or doesn't do - don't let it spill over into a bad feeling - your recognition to her of what she accomplished is what will matter to her most. The recognition at school will pale in comparison to her recognition of the pride you have in what she has accomplished. Her real recognition will come when she shows up for her flight to MMI or NMMI.

Totally agree! Or 5 years later when she's crossing that big sunny stage in New London CT. :thumb:
