Opinions on engineering Schools

when I was looking at good engineering schools I looked at the rankings for my specific major choice, mechanical engineering. TU is ranked higher than A&M, but A&M still is #11 in the nation ranking for engineering better than many of the so called "brainy" schools and most importantly it has the conservative traditional atmosphere I seek, after all you wont do AS good in school AS you COULD if you do not enjoy where you go...plus its college you want to enjoy it! haha

One thing to consider that for a time I considered too is that TU and A&M both are very competitive and like to weed out their students, the engineering departments dont care about their students because they know there are plenty of others who would want to replace them, but Texas Tech which has a respected engineering department that is known for producing well rounded engineers, actually cares about its students and wants them to succeed. So it always has been my backup option. They also give scholarships academically and for ROTC quite more liberally than TU or A&M which is a nice plus.

Just something to consider.
