I won a four year scholarship for AROTC but will I be disqualified if I have braces for the DoDMERB? I've also been prescribed an inhaler but I haven't been officially diagnosed with asthma, it was just to see if it helped with chest pains I sometimes had.

You can not have braces on R-day. So your first day you can not have braces. I am pretty sure if you have braces during the DoDmerb exam it is a disqualification. I don't know about the inhaler.

Hope this helped a little :D

The inhaler script is a red flag. I would check your records for your official diagnosis. DODMERB will...

    Chest Pains

The "chest pains" may be a problem. Unless a cause is found and waived.

Although orthodontics (i.e. "braces") are a DQ (without a waiver) for USMA, they shouldn't be a DQ for AROTC as long as they will be off before you commission. Inhaler may be a different story, and could at least potentially instigate a "remedial" (which is just basically a request for more information). As has previously been stated, the "chest pains" thing will probably have to be addressed when it comes up.

    Best of luck!
