February 26th cannot get here fast enough!!

Just wondering what everyone thinks. I am in a competitive district of VA.

Received an LOE in September, a letter stating I am triple qualified 2 weeks ago.
I am First alternate with my congressional nomination.
    I have a presidential nomination.
Perfect GPA - 4.34 - with all honors or AP classes.
630 math SAT, 630 Verbal SAT (did not take ACT).
Went to Boys State and Boys Nation.
10 Varsity Letters and 3 years team captain (indoor and outdoor track, cross country).
Meically qualified and passed physical fitness test.

Getting soooooo nervous, just want that BFE!!! I cannot imagine being anywhere else besides USMA (I know that's cheesy, but so true!!) :thumb:

The LOE is an indication that you are a top candidate. However, it does not guarantee that you will get an offer of admissions. You should be optimistic since WP sees you as a top candidate. If you had a P-Nom you would be 99+% sure of an offer. Since you are not-you will be put on the National Waiting List. At least 150people will be picked from that list.
Based on the limited information in your note, I would say your chances are well over 50-50.
Good luck- you should know your status by late Feb or early March at latest.

    Thanks for the responses!

The only information I left out was the extra curricular activities which include class club president, volunteer time, seat on youth advisory council for city council, et.

The "qualified" letter I received did state that all qualifeid applicants are on put on the national waiting list. Is this the same list that only 150 are pulled from?

I did visit WP last month and spent the night. I had the chance to meet with someone from the admissions office while there. They could not tell me anything but said that I was a strong candidate.

Does anyone know what they do if the person ahead of me with the P-nom is still undergoing a medical waiver? What does WP do around February 26th if the waiver is not complete?

It means Letter of Encouragement (LOE). See BigNick's explanation on this thread on what it means.

    LOE

There have been many big changes this year in regards to WP admissions selection for appointments. One big change is "Rolling Admissions". Most appointments will be made after February 26 to May 1st. Also, in the past WP would issue "LOA" or letter of assurance. These were given out to those candidates they wanted. An LOA assured a candidate a slot, under conditions, to receive an appointment. This year WP, will issue very little, if not any LOAs and replaced them with "LOE" or "Letter of Encouragement". This invited a candidate to spend a day and night at WP. And are issued to very competitive candidates. Rumor has it about 150 to 200 were issued.

Best of luck. Trust me, the wait is worth it. West Point was an amazing experience. Use this time to prepare yourself as best as possible. There is no room for slacking.

When DS and I went to an admissions brief at Wake Forest in September we were told only 150 LOEs were given out at that point- mid September. DS received his LOE late December so it is definitely over 150.

The caliber of candidates who received a LOE is stunning. For example, hmza DS received his LOE back in December, he has a SAT math score of 770. So when candidate seek help here and we advise them to get their SAT/ACT scores high, we mean it. Math is probably the more important score to be recognized by any college, let alone West Point.

I have received a LOE on three different occasions. Two with the same "personal representative" and a separate one with the original LOE I received in September. I do not know what to think about receiving three separate LOE's in the mail.

DS received two LOE's: one in shortly after his file was complete and one shortly after his MOC nomination showed up on his portal. I expect the updates caused the file to be re-reviewed and since deemed competitive, the LOE was sent.

Sleep deprivation does funny things to you.
That probably would have been obvious to me if I hadn't been without sleep in 20 hours when I wrote that.
AIMs are a great resource for candidates. Glad y'all got to attend one, despite the loss.

Does anyone know the approximate number of LOEs put out? I received one, so I'm just really curious as to how many others have also received one.

    Just Rumors

I heard 150 to 200. But its just rumors.

But consider yourself a top completive candidate. Many many others never received one.
