Pets

What’s the name of the FB page? Our two lab mix rescues both passed away at the ages of 16 within the last year. My husband and I could probably help foster dogs, assuming there is a need in our area.
I’m with you - we live near Great Lakes. Wondering if we could help.

I can't vouch for this organization but this is one that tries to place pets. Fort Bragg, NC has about 9 dog entries for for temporary placement. https://www.dogsondeployment.org/search None for Great Lakes

Here is another one but it does not have a search feature and appears to be more restrictive for service members to use (that's not all bad). https://gafsp.org/programs/foster-home-program

https://pactforanimals.org/animals-in-need This site has a dog in Chicago for foster.

Let me see if I can find it. Haven't seen it since FB kicked me off last year.

When DS was at UMich, they had days each semester where they brought puppies to campus for the students to play with. A win for both the students and the dogs.

The one I just found on a quick search is 'Foster Military Pets' on FB. Quick search and it showed up. There may be many for each state/region as well. I found a few more just using 'foster and military' for different areas.

Guardian Angels for Soldier's Pets has quite the program and has a really great list of testimonials. They are present in all 50 states.

We have a great dog. He previously belonged to someone in the Air Force who was transferred and couldn't take the dog with him. He found a new home but they gave the dog back shortly before the transfer. He ended up chaining the dog to the fence of the area humane society so they would find him when they arrived the next morning. Sad for the dog as he is a great dog and it turned out well for us to be able to get him. But transfers can be a real problem when you have a dog. My daughter is stationed in Japan - she was out at sea for six months last year and just got in from four months at sea this year.
