Phone Call from a University's ROTC Officer

First... sorry that I didn't realize the YOU were the student! :)

ERAU Daytona is where my husband and I went to college (a million years ago), both as AROTC 4 year scholarship winners. My son's first choice is with the Navy, but he is not at all opposed to an Army career. Have you visited the campus before? We live just a couple of hours away from the campus now so he was able to visit last year. He was already pretty sure it was where he wanted to go to school, but seeing the campus solidified his decision. It would be great if you both ended up there next year! Good luck!
I am visiting the school and shadowing a cadet sometime in January or February. I live way up in PA so not the closest visit but ERAU is my number one and I would also like to visit with the ROTC there. It's good to hear from alumni and other students that ERAU seems like everything I hope it is. Hopefully we both have good news soon!

Shadowing a cadet? I've never heard of that but that's awesome. I wish my battalion would do that.

Maybe NROTC as a whole doesn't do this. Anyone know of a Midshipmen being shadowed? Minus the guys at the academy.
Email or call the NROTC unit at the university you want to visit. A lot of colleges also offer an option when you go to schedule a tour of the college, programs like ROTC are an optional part of the tour that many colleges will offer. Even if ROTC is not an option through the actual tour of the university, I would suggest calling or emailing the unit and I am sure they would be glad to show you around the complex or let you shadow a midshipmen. Embry-Riddle and Liberty are the only two AROTC battalions that actually reached out to me regarding visiting and shadowing at the program. To sum it all up, just get the contact info for the ROO, PMS, or the unit and send them a call or email regarding a visit and shadow. Best of luck!

Wanted to give a little update... I spoke with the PMS from ERAU... the next "contact me if you haven't heard anything" date he gave us was February 14th.

Any good NROTC program will offer you the ability to visit the unit and spend time at the lab period, in their Naval Science classes, at PT, or just hanging around the midshipmen in general. If they don't, perhaps consider another option?

I went from NC to CA for college so maybe as an out of state student they didn't. That being said, my unit is top notch now that I'm there.
