Ok, after clicking on the DoDMERB website it now shows "remedial requested". I have already emailed Larry Mullen to get the details, so...

I'm asking all of you to explain this procedure...
Do they send a letter to son telling him what the remedial is for?
Do they email DoDMERB doctors where they had the appointment for more info.
In other words: when do I find out what the remedial is for?

Any descriptions of the process and what this means would be very helpful. I'm assuming this is better than an initial DQ. Son is still in China and has no clue that I'm freaking out, so that's a good thing.:thumb:

I'm in the same position -- remedial requested, and I haven't received a letter. But if you look at the FAQs on the DoDMERB site, it says the letter will be mailed to you.

Usually the remedial will have a code listed which you can check on the DODMERB website to find out what it is for.

Luigi59- I was hoping that code would show up on the online status, but it didn't. Gotta wait for the letter, I guess.

I noticed it the day before yesterday, but it says my letter was sent out on the 15th.

EDIT: To be more specific, it says 15-JUL-09 | Date letter sent - Remedial | R264.00, R190.00.

Then, click on medical codes > List of Remedial Codes, and you can find out what your remedial request pertains to. For example, the R190.00 says:

So, if I had no clue what would be a disqualifying factor (or if I had multiple I was worried about and wasn't sure which one), the generic $$$ doesn't help a lot. But, the other remedial code lets me know more:

    Hopefully that helps.

It could be nothing more than an administrative remedial (where all they want is another form or some paperwork) as not all remedials involve another visit to the doctor for more testing.

Again, instead of guessing or asking folks who don't know what exactly is going on, I'm available at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil to answer specific questions:thumb:

My son had a remedial that showed up on the website. We received a letter within the week. It was a simple administrative that required a copy of a lab report. We sent it back off and was qualified about 2 weeks later.

larry- I already emailed you  I was just fishing around to see what remedials meant. I now know that the letter will show up within a week-ish, and the codes should be showing up online soon.

BUT......if you have any info for me, please email me back:thumb:

Remedials are those consult(s), test(s), and/or information (records, statements, questionnaires, etc) DoDMERB requests to render a MEETS or does NOT meet medical standards OR are requested by the waiver authorities (THRU DoDMERB to the applicants) for them to evaluate before they render their waiver decisions:thumb:

Thanks Larry! Your email helped put my fears to rest.

Folks, they just needed some speech records that I had already emailed to Larry Mullen and he forwarded them on.:thumb::biggrin::thumb::biggrin:

They will send you a letter with the remedial and codes.
Becareful and read it closely. It is very descriptive and tells you what to do.
However, we had to send one item directly to Dodmerb and NOT dodmets.
Quite the nerve racking process, but run very professionally.
Dodmets is great to deal with and always answered my questions immediately or within 24 hours.
Dodmerb, this website alone shows they are here to help and Mr. Mullen WILL get back to you ASAP.
