Just some clarification that is much needed...

With applications to the Academy opening on April 1st, the tension is building. I recently heard that I could potentially receive a nomination from my school's principal to the Naval Academy. Does this have any truth behind it at all? Can a principal nomination count instead of a congressional, senatorial, etc. nomination? Any help is greatly appreciated and much needed. Thanks!

P.S.-- Our school is located very close to the Academy and has an outstanding JROTC Program. This could have something to do with it?? Not sure.

LOL. Now I've seen it all. Sorry, no disrespect intended. I can certainly understand your confusion.

A principal nomination is something you receive from a member of congress (MOC). It means of the several nominees on his slate you are his first choice for the appointment if you are qualified. It has nothing to do with your school principal. BTW, as a JROTC member you can also pursue a JROTC nomination in addition to a MOC nomination.

Hope this helps.
