My name is Scott and my Wife is Jyl (Jill). Our Daughter got her LOA today to USMA and we are doing the parent thing tying to learn more about her new life. Just found the site and will be learning and asking questions. Very informative site.

Thanks

That is so exciting. Tell her congratulations. I hope my parents act the same way in a couple of years. Welcome to the site, and if you need any help, I am getting fairly used to the site.

Congrats on LOA!

What does your LOA say? At this point in the admissions process is it contingent on dodmerb or nomination? Does it state that you will be offered on Feb 26th? Or does it state that you are fully qualified? I dont understand the difference between an LOA and a LOE. Either way congrats on the letter!!!! I am still waiting patiently (ish) for my ds's offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does the LOA say

First Thank You for the kind words. Our DD, DS (I am a little confused about that) began the process late last fall. She completed the last requirement, her CFA, Monday of this week. The same day the LOA arrived.

The letter is from Colonel McDonald and states that the admissions committee has recommended an appointment for her and that she, Col. McDonald, has reserved a cadetship contingent on satisfactory completion of her CFA. She did very well on the CFA and I expect that to be posted anytime. She was also extended an invitation to visit the campus.

This all happened very fast after she decided to go for it about Thanksgiving time.

We are very happy for her and excited beyond words. I sincerely hope that each of you get good news soon as well and thanks again for your encouragement and kind words.

More details on LOA

Cynsni,

I am afraid I did not answer all of your questions and I know how starved for information and details I have been through this process. Mostly because my Daughter is so independent and determined to succeed on her own.

She completed her medical at Christmas and she is qualified.

Her nomination came from her Battalion Commander and it was almost embarrassingly positive. Made me tear up when I realized it was my daughter he was writing about but it also told me she did exactly what I would have expected her to do. She also had multiple letters from her chain of command and other officers she worked under in Afghanistan. She was a medic in a FOB over there. She intends to become an Army Doc.

She also had a nomination from one of our Senators but chose to decline it as she had the nomination from her Commander. We found out later that was probably a mistake but she felt like it was wrong for her to take a nomination from someone else since she already had one.

There are two other young men in her battalion who have applied to USMA and have been waiting for some time. She says they are excellent soldiers and hopes they will make it. She is getting direct admission and the guys think they are probably better candidates for USMAPS. Don't know how they came to that conclusion.

If you have any more questions please let me know. I am very inexperienced at this but will tell you what I think I know...
