I'm not sure how many people know how any of this works but I haven't been able to find any helpful information out there for me.
I accepted my offer to NAPS, for the class of 2021. I'm super excited and can't wait to go!

Right now I'm active duty Navy living in San Diego, CA. Will they issue me a set of orders to NAPS, and will the Navy help me PCS and move all my stuff across the country, to my parents' house? My car isn't huge and I'm trying to prevent my parents from having to pay for plane tickets from New York to fly all the way out here to help me move.
Also, I don't know what to do about the forms I need to fill out. There's the police record check form, body alterations form, and proof of citizenship form. The reason I'm confused is because I have a secret security clearance, so the Navy already has done background checks on me and has proof of my citizenship. As for the body alterations, I have none at all so I wasn't sure what to do about that either.

My mom mentioned some people getting a packet with further instructions, am I going to get one of those too?

I know that that's a lot of questions (sorry) but I'm trying to figure out on my own and with my command how much prep I'm going to need to do before I move again.

Thanks!

First - recommend you edit your post, which you can do within a short editing window, and remove your name to protect your privacy. Unlike your personal social media, this is an anonymous Internet forum. It allows you to be candid without anything coming back to haunt you.

Let me post this so you have a shot at seeing it. Then I have a few more comments.

Okay, take a breath, and congratulations!

It’s the military. Fighting your way through the admin and duplicating previous efforts is typical!

Keep copies of everything and a log of when/how you submitted.

Orders: No one goes anywhere in the Navy without them.

HHG: Your orders will contain language as to what your HHG allowance and entitlements will be. The HHG office will be able to help you understand what you can ship, how much and where. It’s always good practice to pare down, donate, get rid of junk before any Navy move. Think about whether you will want or need something in May of 2025.

Body alteration form: Put N/A everywhere it makes sense, sign if needed, submit.

Police records check: Go to the base security office, be your most appreciative self, see if they can run this for you. It’s a basic check.

Proof of citizenship: Just do it, see note above about duplication. Birth certificate, passport, etc.

“Packet”: You will not get the same packet as those going to USNA. I assume you will get reporting instructions of some kind. This is a forum where people try to help, so with luck, another poster with direct knowledge will pop up.

I knew I had found this before, see below. There may be an updated copy coming out, but usually not too much changes with these.

I believe the paperwork for our year at NAPS 2021 (congrats btw :)) has not been updated yet.

When I inquired my admissions officer they said due to COVID they are waiting for further guidance before changing anything.

Try to email your admissions officer but I believe they’ll say the same that Capt MJ brought up; the documents won’t be much different and will give you an idea of what to expect.

Hope to see you in June!

Awesome, thanks for replying! I’ll keep an eye on everything and I’m sure they’ll release more info soon.

AE3,

I am also a prior enlisted. I am an AD3 stationed in Lemoore, Ca. Go follow the instagram @NAPS2021. If you show proof of your acceptance we can post a picture of you on there and add you to a private group message with some other NAPSters.

V/R,

Thank YOU! This is the exact reference I was looking for in order for our DD to get ready. The Brochure certainly answered many questions not just for the Cadet but for parents. Thank you very much!

All the BEST to you! Great information from CaptMJ!!! Good luck in your continuing career!!!!

Does anyone know of the timeline for when orders for the class of 2021 for active duty candidates are to be sent out? Or are we required to complete the updated requirements first? Thanks!
