Hoops knows whereof she speaks.
It's early for the annual warning, but if DD/DS wants to get there early so as to be precisely on time, and gets dropped off while someone is dumping the car and planning to return for the final hug -- DO NOT stand too close to Alumni Hall doors. There is a vacuum there, possibly a wormhole, that will suck in any P2B standing too close. If there is room to get them in, the staff working the door can spot a waiting P2B with unerring accuracy and invite them in...
Hoops' comments about "more time to do x" made me instantly recall my reporting in to OCS. Report time was 2-6 pm. Thinking if I got there early, I would have time to look around, unpack, get settled in, walk around, I reported not long after 2. I was welcomed pleasantly at the quarterdeck, turned in my orders, signed a few things, and escorted through the swinging door. Then the yelling began. I was the first to report, and the only ninny there until at least 3. The prior enlisted showed up around 5:45. At least I had my salute down, was getting the hang of basic marching and required communications format.
Try to get a decent amount of calories and protein the night before, and something that morning, plus plenty of water. It will be a long, hot, stressful, daze-making day. For all!
