I'm a current plebe at usma and can answer any questions ya'll might have about beast/what to bring/what to expect, etc. Fire away
Can you describe what a typical day looks like ? Activities from the time you get up to going to sleep?
Don't bother. Memorizing all the plebe knowledge is not a requirement to pass Beast, but you should still do it because you risk being smoked by your cadre. Some of it is very important and you should memorize all of it because it is helpful. I would say try and figure out how the structure of the Army works before you come here. For example, Battalion, regiments, company, platoon, squad, etc. It will help you understand what group you are a part of/the people you will be with for your 47 month journey. Don't try memorizing Schofield's because they give you plenty of time to memorize over Beast during the day in formations.would you suggest learning some of the new cadet knowledge before hand or do you risk being "that guy"?
Wakeup around 0600 for plebe duties (clean bathrooms, sweep hallways, etc.)
Formation at 0650
Breakfast 0700-0730
classes go from 0730-1150 (sometimes you may have only one class before lunch. Everyone has different schedules.)
I usually take about an hour nap/chill out
Lunch 1150-1230
classes 1300-1600 (you may only have 1 class or no class in the entire afternoon. Totally schedule dependent)
Then from 1600-bedtime just chill out, homework, dinner, and I go to bed before 10 pm most nights.
You do not do any military training at all during the week in the academic year. About 5 Saturday’s a semester we have military training weekends from 6am-11am and that’s it. The summer is for military training and the academic year is strictly academics.Wakeup around 0600 for plebe duties (clean bathrooms, sweep hallways, etc.)

When do you do military training/drills etc. Is it every day?
With that being said, we do have a few parades in the academic year so we have drill for that on weekdays whenever those come up. If you’re on a corps squad team or competitive club team you get out of all the parades and drill which is nice. You do not do any military training at all during the week in the academic year. It's a great time. The first day is stressful but just do what you're told. Get to know your squadmates and ask your cadre a lot of questions. You'll do some cool stuff and the experience doesn't give an accurate representation of West Point, but if you enjoy it then you will most likely enjoy West Point.Any SLE tips?
Bring your own comfortable underwear. You will not wear one pair of underwear that they issue you, it’s definitely the most important thing to pack (their underwear is extremely uncomfortable, I threw them all out). I recommend bringing your own all black dress socks that are comfortable, and a few pairs of your own white socks (the issues white socks are fine that they give you but the black dress socks aren’t that good). For boot socks, bring like 8 pairs of Fox Rivers, those are the best ones (either all black or all green). Also, bring a pocket knife or gerber, that will be helpful. And the smallest mini fan you can find and will fit in your bag easily. Bring whatever is on the packing list and nothing more besides extra underwear, socks, and some white under shirts. You’re gunna be carrying around whatever you packed for a few hours running around so be prepared for that. Beast is a game and just go along with it, don’t stick out and you’ll be fine.Any recommendations on things that New Cadets could pack to make Beast a little easier? Any recommendations on types of socks and underwear that we should bring?

For the new Army PT uniform, you’re allowed to wear black athletic socks as an alternate to the white ones.
Are you allowed to wear black athletic socks with the PT uniform at West Point?
Actually, on the contrary, (I am a cadre for CBT) all new cadets are expected to have the soldiers creed and the cadet creed memorized at a minimum before reporting to R-Day. all the cadre have to memorized, plus more, so you are expected to too. Bottom line, knowledge makes your life a whole lot easier the first couple weeks of beast.would you suggest learning some of the new cadet knowledge before hand or do you risk being "that guy"?
