So far I haven't had any contact with my ALO. I emailed him 10 days ago with a question and I haven't gotten a response yet. Is it supposed to take that long...? What am I supposed to do if he doesn't respond? Eventually I'll have to set up a date for the interview and whatever...

Maybe we have the same ALO. Sent e-mails to two different addresses on the portal. Waited a week. No response. Called the telephone number. Left message. No response.

Perhaps they don't respond until a certain percentage of the application is complete. I have all the teacher recommendations in, and the personal data, but my transcript was just sent this week and I am taking a little time with the Activities/Resume and the Writing Sample.

What state are y'all in? cause I had that same problem until I was persistent and thankfully got an email back today. Then again to have to remember they have lives outside being an ALO. Mines a pilot mon- Thursday, ALOs are usually reservist or retired with other jobs and a family so we gotta give them a break.

Given the time of year they might very well be on vacation. Or they could be at some summer training exercise. Just keep trying. If it goes from bad to worse then contact the Academy or something.

I wouldn't stress out about it to much. It is still very early in the application process. Work on what you can and continue to try and contact your ALO.

There were times where my ALO took up to three weeks to respond to my emails. It's just the nature of the business. Remember, they are busy people with jobs and families too, and they are responsible for a lot of academy applicants. I'd give it a couple weeks if you can.

Just so you know, it goes both ways. I've emailed a candidate twice in the last 2 weeks and haven't got a reply back yet.

I always responded as soon as I could...if you aren't getting any reply and you are sure it has been at least 14 days, then see if there is some other method of contact...or contact someone higher up in the chain (I don't remember what info you have access to)

Maybe a current ALO here can get you in touch with another ALO in that Det until yours gets back?

My first ALO had not responded to me for a full month, so I called my admissions counselor (the one they give us on our application page) and they switched me over to another ALO. My original ALO had apparently been deployed or was moving between stations. Calling your admissions counselor is probably what I would recommend if all else fails.

    All excellent responses.

As CC said; ALO's almost always have another job they're doing for their primary source of income. FYI...ALO's are unpaid. It's a unique category of the AF Reserve. But that's another story. Some ALO's are retired but doing it to help the candidates and some ALO's are still serving in the AF Reserve or National Guard; very few ALO's are on active duty.

So as CC and others said: give them some slack. However...if it's taking a VERY long time (2 weeks to me is too long) then either call the guidance counselor you're assigned or drop me a PM and I'll check your ALO on the system and perhaps recommend another person to contact, just in case.

BUT...it's early in the process...right now I wouldn't worry at all about ALO contacts. As for athletic recruiting...again, that's being done by USAFA...they'll make sure things keep rolling.
(ALO's are NOT NCAA recruiters, we can't talk recruiting, etc...etc...)

I just noticed his email is no longer on my online application status page. There is just a link for his name. If I click on it, it just says 404 File or directory not found.
