Are all students required to live on campus? I thought I heard that at least the freshmen are. I can't find the answer to this question on the website.

My son is somewhat reluctant to go there because it is close to us, a 30 minute drive. He wants to go away to college.

His first choice is the CGA but if he doesn't make it in he is considering Mass Maritime.

Sadie- we do have a Mass Maritime Cadet who posts on here periodically (Maritime Girl where are you?) who can give you the complete low down on Mass Maritime-but my son did get accepted there and I visited several times and know several alumni so I will give it a shot. I believe that yes- all students at MMA are required to be in the Regiment as Cadets and to live in the barracks (but you are right they sure don't make this information easy to find on their website!). I have hired several MMA graduates and have been very impressed with them, and I have to say that I was also very impressed with the MMA admissions staff ("Fuji" Fulgueras and his team; and with the overall feel of the school. I think that it is a fine school (and for a Mass or regional resident- very affordable as well!). Good luck to your son!

Sadie 65, Your son might want to check out USMMA " Kings Point "

I emailed Mass Maritime and this was the response:

Yes, all of our undergraduate students are required to live on campus, for 4 years, in our uniformed, regimented college lifestyle.

Feel free to email me anytime you have questions.

Hi Sadie65,

Yes, all cadets at Massachusetts Maritime Academy are required to live on campus.

Feel free to contact me if you have more questions.

I wish your child well through the USCGA process. Since it seems that you live close to our campus - keep an eye out for the 10th Congressional District's Annual Service Academy and ROTC Info Night held in Marshfield MA each September. If you are unable to attend - we host that Info Night on our campus each May.
