Hello all.

So in order to validate chemistry 1 the USNA website states that you wither need a 5 in AP Biology or take a validation test. When I took this course I got a 4 on the AP exam so I will probably be going for the validation test. As of now, I am taking AP Chemistry but since I saw that you needed a 5 in AP Biology, I was just wondering if it would be better to review the AP Biology material in order to be ready for the Chemistry 1 validation test.

I really want to try and validate as many courses as I can so that I can take more electives.

Thank you.

Are you sure that to validate Chemistry 1, it doesn’t say you need to get a 5 on the AP Chemistry test — rather the AP Biology test?

My mistake. It says a 5 on the AP Biology test validates Biology 1.
So does that mean a 5 on the AP Chemistry wouldn't validate Chemistry 1?

With all due respect, you’ve answered your own question by posting the USNA link. It says right there that the way to validate Chem is via a test administered during Plebe Summer. (As you gear up to apply, pay great attention to detail. Little things like this add up in the application process and can make for a frustrating experience.)

Respectfully suggest retaking Plebe Chemistry (which should be a bit easier because of your past experience). This is because Chemistry 2 can become challenging for Plebes who validate Chem 1.

DS had a an actual year of intro college Chem and still had to the take the Plebe summer test to validate Chem. He validated both semesters and started in Physics. In defense of the original poster's attention to detail, the USNA page looks confusing to me - why is the info for Chem and Bio intermixed? 1580674143172.png
