    Hi All,

I am a graduate of AIM 2014. I attended Week 2. I am happy to answer any questions about AIM! Fire away!

My statistics were 3.4 GPA and I had a 64M, 61CR, and 51W on the PSAT. My academics weren't great, but my grades had a sharp increase during Junior Year. I am also an Eagle Scout and I started on my JV Volleyball team. I applied out of the Bay Area in California. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, I had a ton of leadership in Boy Scouts and in Sea Scouts.

I think my essays and my recommendations eventually pushed my application over the edge. I was waitlisted initially, but I eventually got in around late April.

I applied Early Action, but I didn't get into the Academy, but I am really grateful I got to attend AIM.

Like what USnavy said, I think the essays are extremely important and can give you the extra push for acceptance into AIM. It's the only part of the app that let's your voice come through!

FWIW, I highly recommend AIM! It can't hurt to apply. It was the best experience of my life!

Yes! And also, if you don't get the chance to go don't fret! -- getting in to AIM certainly doesn't guaruntee anything.

A good friend that goes to my school is going to Navy next year -- he got denied from NASS and got an LOA on a campus visit!

    It's such a mystery ;)

Just a quick two cents on AIM (I went this past summer). The experience in the midst of it is difficult. It is not quite swab summer, but you will certainly not be able to just slide through... That said, looking back it was an incredible experience and I am extremely glad I went. I'm also willing to answer any questions anyone may have!

I think we all can remember the exact moment once the Cadre busted through the P-way and told us to hit the bulkhead1

BTW Did anyone actually end up getting a "real" shower in during the week? :)

I did go to vespers, and as soon as we got back we got IT'd because some swab in a different company was talking while a speaker was haha

Were you week one? If so what company?

People in my company got ITed as well after vespers! It was painful to watch

Hi guys! Just one question... I know that USCGA doesn't get as much prestige as the other academies, but once you experienced AIM, were you sold on the fact that it was just as good/better than the others?

Absolutely! I didn't attend any other summer programs, but I had visited AFA prior to AIM. I was impressed by both! The academies each have their own pros and cons. It really depends on the individual match, yet you can't go wrong with any SA. Coming out of AIM I knew that it was my top choice! Don't let the fact that it's not one of the "big three" deter you. CGA is a well hidden treasure!

Honestly, this is just based on my personal experience, aim seemed much better organized than USAFA summer seminar. There was a ton of down time at USAFA and rookie for a day was not too challenging...

    But both are excellent programs
