Situation:
The immunization record must be sent to the USNA Naval Health Clinic by 5/15/09. This is mandated as per the form and booklet.
Only a heath care provide can call the number listed on the form, and our family doctor / office staff is too busy to spend time trying to get through and ask questions regarding due dates, versus medically oriented questions. Since I am not a health care provider, I cannot call myself to ask these questions.
My son has all required immunizations (Tdap and Menactra are being given on 5/12), except Hepatitis A.
Our family doctor has just ordered the Hepatitis A vaccine, and will probably take about a week to get. This will bring the vaccination date past the 5/15 mail in deadline for the form.
The immunization record can be sent on 5/12, and should make it to USNA by 5/15, however it will not reflect the Hepatitis A vaccine.
Questions:
Should the immunization record be sent to make it to USNA for 5/15, or should it be held until Hepatitis A is given?
If it is sent to make the 5/15 deadline, will an updated copy be accepted after 5/15? Understandably, my son will bring a copy of the immunization record with him on I day, however it will not be consistent with what was sent to meet the 5/15 deadline.
Also, the form mentions the need for IPV booster as a travel requirement. Does this mean that such an immunization is deferred until the plebe is required to travel (presumably overseas)?
