How often USMA updates the candidate portal? weekly or daily?

I have noticed that my updates come out daily. I would guess that the files are updated overnight (prob. around midnight) as when I wake up, I've had many surprises

Haha, yeah...I remember checking my candidate page almost religiously. It would be the first thing I would do when I got up in the morning

28 FEB

Does anyone know when the last date you can update a candidate files is? My DS re-took the SAT test yesterday to boost his scores to make him more competitive. The results will be in December 21st and he will forward them the same day. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Last Day to add information to your file is 28 FEB 2011. After that, no information that can positively affect your file will be accepted.

Do all cadets (including Plebes) attend Army-Navy games? If so, how are the cadets transported there?

All cadets are required to attend. The only exceptions are if you are on a team that has a competition at the same time (much like hockey had this year), if you are injured, or if you are in danger of failing classes.

Cadets are given the options of taking an unchargeable pass (you are released at the end of your last class and must make it to accountability formation the morning of the game on your own then make it back to USMA the next day), boomerang (you wake up at 3am, and are bussed to Philly then bussed back an hour after the game), or delayed pass (same as boomerang but you are released after the game is over and must make it back to West Point by accountability formation the next day).

This question is for cadets whom have already completed CBT.

During your time at Beast Barracks, how often did you find yourself writing home to family or a boyfriend/girlfriend? How much time did you have to write on a daily basis? About how many letters do you think you wrote per week? How long did it take for you to receive a reply by mail?

Thanks

Hi! I just received my appointment last week and I have tonsss of questions! Looks like I came to the right place though!

First off, where are the forms I need to fill out? I cannot locate them on my candidate portal. Is it possible that it hasn't been updated yet?

As far as I know, the Gray Cards are the only available forms for accepted candidates to fill out at the moment. That only includes uniform, travel, personal info, and points of contact. Concerning the other forms...I don't think they're available yet, but correct me if I'm wrong - I need to locate them as well!

I wrote home 5 times, but that's just me. I don't really get homesick or anything. There were people in my squad who wrote a letter every day! When you're not in the field, there's free moments to write. The problem is not writing the letter, it's that going to the mailroom (or getting your squad leader to drop letters off) is dependent on your time and your squad leader's mood.

Well I'm glad to here there's moments through out the day I can write. I probably won't write home often because I don't get homesick either, but my girlfriend will want me to write to her as often as possible lol. Thanks for the help.

My cadet escort during my overnight visit frequently skype video-chatted with his girlfriend during the academic year so you'll have regular contact after Beast is over.

freedomtruck, are you sure it was Skype and not another video chat program? I was always told you have to use something other than skype because of file sharing, since you will be on the DOD network and all.

Can a current cadet enlighten us candidates?

I about 5'9" and weigh around 138 lbs. Recently I have been eating larger portions and more frequently in an attempt to gain weight. I'm hoping to eventually weigh at least 145lbs.

My question involves maintaining weight at Beast. I've read that cadets are likely to lose weight at Beast. However, I've also heard cadets say they've gained weight in muscle. Am I more likely to gain weight or lose it? I hope to avoid losing weight since my weight is low according to a dietitian I know. Any answers appreciated.

Wow, you must be really skinny, haha.

In order to maintain/gain muscles, you have to eat, a lot. Obviously you're going to do a lot of training and if you don't eat enough, your body will start tapping into your muscles for energy.

I really don't look that skinny. I weigh ~138 but I can max bench press around 210lbs. I definitely have muscle I just weigh light I guess because I exercise literally everyday.

But yeah I agree with your statement. My girlfriend's mother is a dietitian and told me the same thing. I eat plenty of carbs now haha.

But anyways does anyone know if I'm likely to lose weight at Beast or gain weight in muscle?

I have heard the word BEAST a lot. What is BEAST?

Your introduction to West Point after you leave Mom and Dad and all that you knew as normal. The most intense summer of your life after which you'll will never be the same.........but in a good way. I'm sure others will have more details

I'll let them fill you in:thumb:
