Mahan Hall is located in the cadet barracks. Usually has recent releases, but I believe it only has one theatre. The shopette near the PX has movies that you can rent.

The movies in Mahan Hall tend to be new but not as new as you will get in a normal theater. You can rent movies in the library although those are even older. You won't get to be up to date on movies Plebe year much. Once you get OPP's after Plebe year, you can go to the movie theater 20 minutes away on weekends.

Are you thinking about Harry Potter 7 during Beast lol? After growing up with Harry Potter, being in basic training when it comes out will be a little frustrating (I imagine I'll have other concerns though)
 
I've thought about the movie theater issue as well. I would suggest getting a Netflix subscription. Obviously the movies offered on Netflix aren't in the theaters, but it should hold you off during the academic year until you have leave and can go to the movies.
 
I read a list of items to bring on R-Day that mentioned a camera. Are cadet candidates allowed to bring cameras on R-Day? I don't intend to take excessive, unnecessary pictures, but it would be cool to take occasional pictures to look back on.
 
I'm a little confused about the Direct Deposit form. Do I mail the completed form in now, or carry it with me on R-Day?

Also, the cover letter on the Third Admissible mailing mentioned a booklet called "Information for New Cadets and Parents, Class of 2015." It is supposed to be available on the portal, but I'm not seeing it. Has anyone else found it?
 
Yes, you mail the completed for now, and also bring a copy to R-Day.

The "Information for New Cadets and Parents" may take a couple days to get posted online.

My cadet did not remember anyone taking pictures during Beast. He said they were so busy he didn't even know when you would do that. He also categorized that as "drawing unwanted attention to yourself", something you definitely want to avoid.
 
Hey I have an admissions question that I was hoping someone would be able to help me with...

When DoDMERB initially contacts you to schedule an appointment for the physical, how do they contact you? Email, snail mail, phone?

I ask this because I'm going to be gone about 10 days in July (which is when I heard they contact you) and I want to make sure I can respond within the time they give.

My letter last year was snail mail. I received it the 3rd week of June.

Um, you're NOT going to have time during Beast to watch movies.
 
Has anybody's portal gone up yet because it says June 15th but mine has yet to come up. Any ideas?
