R-Day Countdown begins

Frams are kind of "no nos" until you get older (you don't shine them, they are plastic shiny shoes....windex works).

What year are Patent Leather shoe's allowed?

Leathers are issued early and you will learn how to shine them....

Frams are issued, but we weren't allowed to wear them until, maybe 3/c year...that may have changed though.

i don't think they issue them anymore. i had to get some for windjammers and they were purchased at the navy exchange across the river if memory serves. they are wonderful though (you can wear them after carryon is granted)

Ok, good info Zach. Additionally, Frams cannot be worn for inspection, (should not be worn for drill, your feet will bake), and cannot be worn on ships (due to the fact that if there is a fire, those shoes will melt to your feet).

this would have been great to know before i packed my frams at the bottom of my seabag.

so I went and got everthing I need for r-day today. About the socks, is it okay if they have gray on the toe? I couldn't find any all white straight tube socks.

25 days. :yikes:

Alfa Company reports in approximately 612 hours.

Enjoy the remaining four weekends until R-Day. :beer1:

.....ummmm......can we have a little longer??? .....pretty please?

about the companies....awhile back someone said that maybe we could log in a little early and get that info with the cadet i.d. number.....? i ask knowing full well that any info we get (if we can get it) will be secondary to anything that comes officially from the academy. that said....what do you think? what website? is the i.d. the same as the number printed on the R-Day parking pass we got awhile back? So curious.

No.

Kite strings get cut in 25 days. Kites are still available for viewing even if they are no longer attached. :sadwavey:

That info IS from the academy, it IS official. Have your son log-on to his profile at the cga website (he does have one, doesn't he?), and then check the download section. Last year, there was a spreadsheet that showed the mailbox number and the company assignment for each candidate ID number. I think it was posted around mid-June. Don't worry, as soon as it gets posted (IF it gets posted this year) the web sites and facebook pages will be all over it.

what website?

THE website. www.cga.edu

The very same.

So curious.

Now that you're posting on the ListServ at the PA site, you'll soon be getting THE best insider gossip and info (not to be shared outside the ListServ). Many times during the year, you'll know about things before the info gets to your Swab.

Muchas Gracias Luigi! You are my go-to guy for all things academy. :thumb:

Son does have profile, but because he was a re-applicant somehow his profile was never re-set. So, I will direct him to give it a try. Maybe it will work!

Parent's Weekend begins in 106 days!

(Oh, and only 18 days until R-Day for the swabs.)

Hahaha, NICE!

ALMOST TWO WEEKS!!!

Pshhh.....two whole weeks. A long, long time....what will we do with all of that free time?

.....I can tell you that I, personally, will be fretting the whole time away. Son, however, is ok with it all, and is eager to get things going. I am trying to not let it show, and just enjoy the normal stuff before our dinner table is minus one kid.

I think I need to find a hobby. Or clean my house. (my husband reads this board....honey I did not just say I should clean house....disregard plz) Anything to keep my mind off of June 29, 2009.

On a serious note.....we really are so happy that son is getting his dream shot. All the waiting is finally almost over, and the adventure looms large on the horizon....how cool that we get to watch from afar as he makes this important first step.

Good luck to all those in the same shoes.

It is pretty exciting, isn't it? My D is going to HersheyPark tomorrow with some other future Swabs from the PA area. When I told a co-worker (whose D just graduated from USNA) that I thought she should be exercising instead, he said that they would get alot of exercise walking around the park:rolleyes:. I guess I'll just have to stop worrying!! (I'll make her go to the gym with me tonight instead:thumb::smile:)
