These appear to be held on military bases. Are friends and family (a) welcomed (b) tolerated (c) discouraged (d) prohibited?

I've tried calling the brigade HQ but there's neither an answer or an answering machine. I could call the battalion but I don't want to give any impression of interfering and prefer not to contact them unless absolutely necessary.

The Clarkson Golden Knight Battalion welcomes parents and friends to come show their support. You'll never find out where to go, or what to do when you get there unless you contact the Battalion or Brigade or have your cadet get the details for you (good luck there). Some Battalions might be different, but I would expect that most Battalions would appreciate parental involvement. For our parents weekend Army vs Air Force soccer game we get 2-300 parents and friends out, and our formals (where parents are invited usually draw around 250 to 300 attendees, many of which are parents.

Finally got through to Brigade (phone #s on Cadet Command website were out of date).

Any attendance at Ranger Challenge must be coordinated with the cadre of the relevant battalion, which would take responsibility for the family/friends. No POV (private occupancy vehicle?) would be permitted in the vicinity of the challenge course.

Ranger Challenge to be held in February. I think it is in Fort Knox this year. The winners of the Eight Brigades are invited to the Sandhurst Comp at West Point in April or May. West Point and Fort Knox is open to ROTC Cadets families. Even in these times the Army has always encouraged families to attend ceremonies and functions. My favorite experience is not watching my son. The Cadets from a distance are always "where's waldo?" You are at some distance sometimes. I like to go the PX and see the soldiers with their families. You see the kids and army dads and moms running around the stores. "Yes I will buy that for you" seems to echo over and over. God Bless these families.

Wow that seems late, my son's battalion is competing in the first competition in early October at Ft. Lewis, the winner then goes to California and that winner goes to West Point.

Does anyone know where/when the 7th Brigade Ranger Challenge competition is? In addition to college and ROTC, my son also competes at a national level in a non-school sport. I am working on his travel schedule for the fall, and hoping there won't be any scheduling conflicts.
If no one knows off-hand, I'll just ask him this weekend. Thanks!

5th Brigade (Southwest) mid October sometime, but I didn't get any dates yet from DD. I also don't know if it is for the entire 5th Brigade at one time/place, or whether there is more than one competition date/place per Brigade. I just don't have any details.

6th Brigade was at Fort Benning October 7-8. Son's team came in third in tier and he thinks fourth or fifth overall out of about 50 schools. Information slow in arriving.
