How difficult is it to get on the Ranger team as a freshman? When are tryouts usually or do they vary by school? If I don't make it on the team as an MS1, will I have other opportunities to try and get on the team in later years(MS2-MS4)?

Every team has to have one freshman and one female. It can be the same person, it does not have to be. Also there are alternates as well, And of course you will have more opportunities. Members will graduate, could get injured, or just choose not to return.

Idk about chances but like @Dckc88 posted, there is only one freshman and one female slot. Usually isn't the same person to fill the criteria for each but sometimes it does happen. You will have more opportunities for sure if you don't make it.

Thank you both! One more question, are alternates considered part of the team, like participate in practices and such, and do they receive OML points for being involved even as an alternate?

ill be an MS1 this spring and ive talked to my cadre and friends already in the program and from what they told me was it varies by school and depends a lot on the size of the program like the ROTC program im going in to is small enough where they don't have a formal try outs

I do want to clarify, there is a minimum one MS1 and one female, however, that doesn’t mean that there can’t be more than one of either, just that there is a minimum. It is possible like mentioned above at a smaller program, or just out performing others that there can be more than one.
