I am planning on reapplying after this rejection, but do I have to wait to start it or can I start it now? I know that the academy occasionally but rarely changes their mind on rejections but would starting a new application potentially interfere with the rare occurrence that that were to happen?

I don't think it will interfere. My guess it will be but into a different pile.

Do you know why you got rejected?? If you do, focus on that/those areas the most but also try to improve across the board. What ever you do, don't listen to people that question your "why". If your dream is to attend the USAFA or another branch then keep trying. Follow your heart.

I emailed admissions essentially asking why/how I can improve. They actually called me a little while later and said that my application was great and that I was not necessarily lacking anywhere, but simply that my state was extremely competitive. (Maryland) Makes sense because of USNA being in the area.

They gave you a GREAT bit of feedback!! Kudos to them!

NOW..if you wish to reapply (I did, many years ago after I got the TWEs...), go ahead and start it...maybe wait until next month or so...

Now...what can YOU do to make your package more attractive given you're in a very competitive state? The answer is probably multifaceted. You could, of course, retake SAT/ACT and blow them away with BIG numbers!! Or you could enroll in college (big or community) and take the same schedule you'd take as a plebe/doolie...and crush the grades! Do that and you remove the biggest question they have: can you succeed academically?

And of course, stay in the best physical condition you can!

Easy, eh?

I would add to that by recommending enrolling in in a ROTC program. I feels it shows your dedication to becoming a commissioned officer in the service just using a different path. It is also give you the opportunity to earn a ROTC nomination.

When did you get a rejection letter? My daughter is also from Maryland, and she hasn't heard a word yet! She's really thinking of her second option, going to WVU and going Army ROTC

I'm from MD too. I got rejected yesterday (4/17), as did many other people.

Do you mind to provide e-mail address you used to contact admissions. I've heard that Team Silver sends generic reply identical to the rejection letter, so there is no point in contacting them.

I got my rejection April 17th. Hoping for the best for you guys!

The team that you’re going to want to email is based off of your geographical area. I’m not sure exactly how it’s split but I’m on the east coast and have team blue. I don’t know their exact email but you can definitely find it on your applicant portal or on the USAFA website.

MD-02 appointee right here, if that information is helpful at all.
