    Hello Coast Guard Academy forum,
I was just wondering about the types of recommendations that are mandatory and how they play a role in admissions. Also for the optional recommendations, would it play a role on getting an appointment if one gets recommendations from active US Coast Guard officers?
Lastly about the Letter of Assurances, I understand that there were 15 given from the AIM class of 2011, but how are they evaluated and ultimately given out? I know that one girl from my company got one today so I wondered how a person can be qualified for one.

    Thanks CGA forum!

CGA's website will go into detail about the recommendations required for your CGA application. A recommendation from a CG officer will not help, but it won't hurt.
