Could someone please comment on recommended Math and Science Course selections for an incoming High School Freshman this fall? This may be the first question from a candidate for class of 2021! Thank You.

That would probably depend on what you've already taken. Have you already taken Algebra? Or even Geometry?

I think this is the first question for class of 2021, congrats.

    Classes I took

Hi I'm a member of the Class of 2016. Here is a list of the math and science courses that I took in high school. But really it depends on the courses that are offered at your school.

Prior to high school I took Pre-algebra and Algebra.

    9th Grade
    Math - Honors Geometry
    Science - Honors Biology

    10th Grade
Math - Honors Algebra 2 and AP Statistics
    Science - Honors Chemistry

    11th Grade
Math - Honors Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus
Science - Honors Physics and AP Chemistry

    12th Grade
    Math - AP Calculus
    Science - AP Biology

I hope that this helps. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me!

Thank you all for your replies!
I am currently in Geometry for 8th grade.

Here is my proposed freshman lineup.

    Geometry or Algebra 2
    Earth Science or Biology
    Honors English
    Honors Civics

If I take biology, I would take chemistry in 10th grade, physics in 11th grade, and an AP science (biology, chemistry, environmnetal science, or physics) class as a senior.

If I take geometry, I would take algebra 2 in 10th grade, Pre-Calc (with trig) in 11th grade, AP Calc in senior year.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    For me I took:

    9th Grade
    Geometry
    Biology I

    10th Grade
    Algebra II
    Chemistry I

    11th Grade
    Pre-Calc
    Chem II
    Honors Physics

    12th Grade
    AP Calc
    AP Chem
    AP Physics B

Try and get up to AP calculus AB or BC, Take AP Chemistry, and take AP Physics C. If you can set yourself up to validate Calc I, Chemistry, and Physics I and II it'll make your life easier as a 4/c and 3/c
