    Hey,

So I'm still going to cling onto hope like a danglin' rope, but it's fraying to be frank. I need to face reality, and realize I just might not make it this year. Oh well, it happens. I know they'll keep on sending out letters, but when will I officially get "rejected?" Put some closure on my mind at least.:frown:

Simply put, I think you're jumping to conclusions a little early. They still have hundreds of appointments to give out, and vast swaths of the countryside have yet to be represented in this distribution.

Don't give up hope, 'cause I'm certainly not :D they're sending out somewhere between 1300 and 1500 appointments, and, to our best estimate, they still haven't sent out more than 800. I know this is tough, but I am right here besides you, waiting it out.

If you're not getting in, I don't think you'll know for certain until everyone reports for R-Day and your still sitting at home. From what I hear of kids not getting notified about going until the absolute last second, it seems like the Admissions office doesn't like to give out very certain rejection letters to the completely qualified.

This has got to be the most anxious I have ever been in my life. I had a really hard time in the last week not getting happy news after waiting so long. I know it's rough, but have faith in the admissions office. If you're a good, qualified candidate who has the right things going for you, you'll get your BFE..

Good Lord! Get a grip on yourself man! The battle hasn't even begun and you're ready to surrender? It takes determination to win the fight. Only a small number of appointments have been made to date. You have no reason to give up now. Gee, will you be like this in battle?

Hang in there. It isn't over until it is over. Like they have told you, it isn't over, it's far from over.

    not over yet

We are feeling the same level of anxiety! My advice...stay positive....make sure you continue to work your plan b...congratulate yourself on getting this far (it truly is an incredible accomplishment to get this far) and know you are not alone! My ds is in the same boat and although he feels like his life is on hold and the wait is killing him...the preperation he put into this process is going to ensure his success regardless of the path! Best of luck!

    Plan B

There are still plenty of offers to go out, hang in there. Start working on Plan B so you don't loose the momentum. Look at a Civil Prep School, they will be accepting students soon. This is a valuable Plan B.

    Definitely too soon to surrender!

But to put things in perspective for you, you're used to being the best--one of the best students with the best grades throughout your academic life, one of the best athletes and/or musicians and/or ??? You're used to being successful and a leader amidst your extra curicular activities. People in your community and school (teachers and peers alike) admire you and wish they could be like you. All things you should be proud of.

Now, you are cast into a pool of some 2-3000 other young adults, just like you--a lot better, some not as good.

Start getting use to being "merely average" in a very elite group of young people.

Don't surrender, but if you don't think you can handle being average, be careful.
