Rental cars for graduation and Parents Weekend

FYI

I've been monitoring prices for graduation week lately and they seem to be creeping up a bit from a couple of weeks ago. Everything right now is looking @$300 and up for the week (Sat-Fri).

If space is a concern, I just saw today a Hotwire pre-pay deal on a minivan for $280. Usually a good deal more expensive (if available).

Prices still high but maybe less than what you're paying

For the last 4 years, this is about the time I booked rental cars for Parents Weekend via hotwire, priceline, etc. For a Thursday-Tues full size rental from Denver Int'l Airport, we usually paid about $230.00. Today that car on Hotwire is $327. However, that beats the quote from National's website of $622.00. If you booked your car and have a quote much higher than $327 (plus tax etc..so do your due dilligence!) you might consider trying a discount site and saving some money.

I have a reservation I made with Hertz in late June, $245 for a full-size car (Impala or similar) Thursday - Tuesday, at Denver. The base rate was $175, the rest was fees and taxes .

One thing I don't like is having to pay tolls on the highways around the airport. One time, I was charged a daily service charge on the EZ Pass because I used it to get out of and into the airport, even though the remaining days I wasn't using tolls. Is that still the case? Alternatively, anybody have any good routes to get around paying the tolls?

Keep in mind depending on the time of day (such as rush hour) I-225 and I-25 get's pretty backed up. And there are some pretty extensive construction projects going on on I-70 and I-225 right now through the route you're taking.

There is a less traveled way you can go but you'll add 30 minutes to the estimated (according to google maps) time but it's a lot nicer drive at times. Co-83 (Parker Rd.).

If you want that route just click avoid highways on the map that aglages provided and you'll see the route. Not as straight forward as the highway but lot nicer drive especially once you pass Franktown.
