Yes, he can report to it and contribute.
Thank you for that reply. Do you think he should mention that before he signs up or just show up and contribute?
mention what, exactly? That he is going to "contribute"? What does that even mean?
You know what the Rise program is, right?
Here the synopsis of it from the first rise event in 2013:
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Office of Diversity Affairs will hold a unique program on campus for incoming underrepresented cadets called R.I.S.E. (Respect and Inclusion Summer Experience) June 28 and 29.
The R.I.S.E. program, much like other pre-orientation programs conducted on college campuses across the country, is a research-proven method of retaining underrepresented students in higher education.
Incoming first-year cadets will arrive on campus prior to Swab Summer to learn about the various resources available to assist them in their transition to the Coast Guard Academy. Through a series of workshops and panels, students are introduced to the academic and social support professionals on campus representing the various offices and departments with which students should immediately familiarize themselves. Some of these include the Commandant of Cadets, Dean of Academics, Diversity Affairs, Chaplain’s Office, and Director of Athletics.
Other workshops explore how diversity both challenges and enriches the experiences of students. Additional events throughout the program provide opportunities for students to create a sense of community that will benefit them throughout Swab Summer and their fourth class year.
