Good afternoon,

After I finished all my Service Academy applications, I am finishing my ROTC application. I was talking to one my my teacher and my friend who is a USMA Grad. They told me that since I received a Congressional Nomination, (I got one to all 4) that I automatically incur a full ROTC Scholarship. Though I haven’t found anything about this anywhere, I was wondering if this is true and if so how I demonstrate the Congressional Nomination on my ROTC Portal.
Thank you

It is not true. ROTC and SA's are totally different processes. Nominations only deal with SA's. Are you saying that you have not finished your applications, or you just wanted to update your completed applications about the nominations?

I was wondering about if it was true, how I would add it to my application. But no worries about it now lol

What he might have meant is that there is a chance that if you are not selected for an offer at West Point, admissions may work with cadet command and offer ROTC scholarships if any or available later in the cycle. Notice that I said chance, may and if available. To many unknowns to count on this happening.

Maybe, that makes sense.

If you have a fully qualified USMA admissions packet but were not accepted - then that is very easy to pull into a campus-based 3-year ROTC Scholarship. We did that a couple of times and while it's not automatic, it's pretty painless and quick to get approved. Call your top program immediately if you receive neither an appointment or a national scholarship so you're on their radar. Make a good impression within the first month on campus and you're in good shape. (don't be over the top - just be at the right place, at the right time - be active in PT and an ROTC extracurricular)
