My DS is thinking about playing rugby. Does anyone know if rugby is an intramural, a club or an intercollegiate sport? Any details you can provide about this or rugby in general is greatly appreciated (DS was a soccer player and would be new to rugby). I didn't see any information on the USMMA Sports website.

It's a club sport...and they are pretty darn good.

Just got to watch for injuries. Wish I could tell you more...

For more info, check out the club's Facebook page, which is open to all. Just type in "Kings Point Rugby Football Club." My son just joined the team last year and absolutely loves it. The camradarie is great and the rugby team has turned into his core group of buddies at KP.

The team plays fall and spring seasons against teams up and down the East Coast. I believe the spring season has a seven-person squad. Last year they had a bunch of local games in the NYC metro and traveled to West Point, Washington D.C. and Rhode Island. I am not sure if both the "A" and "B" squads made all of the trips.

I haven't gotten a fall schedule from my son yet. Last year they did play at KP during Parents' Weekend.

If you need any more info, shoot me a PM.

The KPRFC is absolutely one of the best non-varsity sport at the school. I did not play, but many of my friends did and they still consider each other to be great friends. Injuries really aren't any more or less than some of the other sports.

My son is the captain of the team this year. If you want to PM me I will give you his e-mail.

They are very good. Your son should have a blast.
