According to the concordance tables my DS's ACT scores are slightly better than his SAT scores. If he chooses to retake only the ACT to increase his score will the academy penalize him for his SAT scores that have already been submitted? His ACT scores have been submitted as well .

There is no penalty. Take them as many times as possible. WP will superscore (take the best of each section) both between different dates and different tests (ACT/SAT). So, if you received a 720 Math, 650 Critical Reading on the SAT, and a 29 Math 34 Critical Reading on the ACT, they will take the 720 Math from the SAT and the 34 ACT Critical Reading. They have some kind of formula that they use to come up with the best SAT/ACT superscore.

Just don't forget to include the optional Writing test on the ACT.

No. They will only look at the highest score. Therefore, if you score higher on the ACT than you do on the SAT, they will only factor the ACT score in for you WCS.

Are you sure about this information?

I have always been told that USMA superscores, but they do not mix test scores. So if you receive a 650 math 650 critical reading on the first test then a 720 math 630 critical reading on the second one, they will only look at the 720 math and 650 critical reading. This works the same way for the ACT. However, this does not work for mixing SAT and ACT scores.

That's the plan, but it's not implemented yet.
