I've had my application 100% complete since the beginning of September, and I haven't heard anything from the Academy whether or not I'm academically qualified. I know the letters don't go out ALL the time, but since I've had it complete for so long, should I be worried?

I asked my RD and she said I was "in a waiting stage." I don't know if that means the Board just hasn't reviewed my app, or they have and they haven't found my record academically qualified. Will they notify me if I'm not?

I spoke with my congressman's office today about interview taking place in December, and they said they wait to hear from the Academy and they interview those who meet the criteria. So I'm just a little worried/stressed at the moment.

Any advice or knowledge on this particular topic would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

It means either that the CGO has not yet sent your package to the board or that the board has deferred any recommendation on it. No way of knowing which. And it doesn't matter. They are probably waiting for any additional information which might enhance your package such as SATs, semester grades, etc. and giving it a more positive light before the board.

My Plebe hadn't heard anything about scholastic qualification, even after he had received his first nomination. So, he emailed the admissions board and asked about it. A week later he got his "scholastically qualified" letter in the mail. I don't think it makes much difference whether you actually receive a letter or not, but it might give you some peace of mind while you endure the wait. And save some of that wondering and worrying for early 2011. It can get pretty intense between January and April!

Thank you both! Waiting is the hardest part.

My DS just received a letter today stating that he is board qualified to compete for an appointment to the USNA Class of 2015.:thumb:

One more VERY exciting step forward! Cherish these times of celebration, even as you await the ultimate. Consider this the blue light special that'll get you into the store! Congratulations ...and truly, you and yours have one more thing for which to give the Celestial Admiral a heart-felt salute!

As for those who might deem this irreverant to the god of humanistic evolution and chemical magicry? Try flipping him the ... ...and pray. No, I guess that options not available. Give thanks to chemixtry!
