School preference issue on ROTC application

Hello - I was wondering if anyone has encountered the same issue as my son. He has issues with the school selection portion on the ROTC application. It doesn't allow him to select/ submit the schools he wants and has private schools coming up as state. It does save the schools but then states you need a minimum of x amount of public choices, which he has done- numerous times-He has tried different variations just to see if any combo works and it has not. He submitted a few messages and it was being worked on but it has now been close to a month and would like to submit. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thank you very much!

You are also required to have at least 1 in state school. That may be a problem? If you have one maybe see if it has to be a public school instead of private? Outside of that i have no idea. Good luck!

If he is looking for a school that isn't on the list it may be that scholarships aren't offered to that school...or the ROTC Battalion hasn't let anyone know that they would like scholarships added to that school.

Going off of what Clarkson said, when I was applying last year I took note of the cross-town schools within my battalion as to whether or not they were in, just for curiosity, and they did get added later on, albeit later than when I had my application boarded. If I were you, I would get in contact with the ROO of the battalion you are interested in joining and let them know about the issue, and see what help/advice they can offer. I recall my Battalion's ROO telling me after I conducted my interview with him last scholarship year that if I were to get the scholarship that I would theoretically be able to apply it to any of the schools within the unit, for the most part (I don't think the army would support a jump from my 18k Public University tuition price of Pitt to the 35k Private School tuition price of Carnegie Mellon right next door).

Luckily he's still got till the end of August/beginning of October before the application deadline is, and it won't make much difference if he submits it tomorrow versus in August, as it should get looked at regardless. I definitely agree the preference states the sooner the better though. This is all just my 2 cents.

Thank you all very much. He got it to work but with different colleges then initially wanted. Still very strange. And it had private schools listed as state- and state schools, although stated as "state" weren't being recognized when he tried to use them for his 1 out of 3 or 3 out of 7 etc so he did get his top 3 to submit in the right order but just doesn't make any sense- the schools he wanted were listed but not being logged correctly so we looked at other schools!

Thank you all for taking the time to answer. The ROO he interviewed with was great and knew of the issue, and she was from his first choice so all good!!!
Thanks again
