Second Time on the Roller Coaster

Posted on the "stalkers" page yesterday, but realized my "roller coaster" friends might like to know -- DS received a letter yesterday guaranteeing an appointment if he clears up his Medical DQ -- which we confirmed with DoDMERB is still waived with last year's waiver! He is so happy! We live about an hour away from USNA -- I'm pretty sure he will be visiting over Spring Break! The ride isn't over, but I think DS has climbed the last hill. Hoping all of you repeat riders are similarly rewarded for your commitment to the dream!

I was hoping you'd post over here Kayaker! I just wanted to congratulate with all the folks from last year. So excited for you and your DS!! All the best!!

Kayaker! Soooo happy for your DS and you. What a great way to end the week. I am so glad that you are coming around that last corner before we exit this wild ride. I am absolutely thrilled for you!!!

So, DS called me unexpectedly this afternoon at work. He is starting break and was supposed to come home tomorrow, but he asked if he took the train up from Philly, if I could get him from train near my work and bring him home. I was happy:). We drive the 45 minutes home talking about USNA, forum postings on plebe year, how to prepare, etc. I asked how his NROTC unit was taking the news that he was going to USNA (the frosh advisor- a USNA grad is excited for him). We drive up our road and immediately evident on TOP of the mailbox- is the BFE!!!! How perfect that he should be there to get it and open it. He reflected on last year for a moment, the wait for the BFE and the disappointment, then he looked at me and said, "I will be a better officer for having had this year". I was so proud of him. He is so looking forward to starting this new journey.

Thanks all you forum posters, for all the information you have provided, and the support through the waiting process. And to all of you still waiting- hang in there!

Jsmom that is great news!!! Congratulations to your DS and you. Let's keep it going second timers!! Just wonderful. And with that my friends, may I take your beverage order to celebrate?

Today while picking up DD's little sisters from school, my phone rings and it is from DD who is away at prep/college in TX. As I answer, she begins screaming something into the phone. I'm like, "say that again, what?" More screaming in the background. I still can't understand her. Finally I ask, hoping that my heart is right, that this screaming is about USNA, and sure enough she finally is able to speak clearly and tell me that she received a call from our former congressman's liaison telling her of her appointment to USNA!!!! BFE will follow soon. We, little sisters and I all start joyfully screaming with her. Yeah!! I thought it would take a little longer, if ever, for this day to come, but IT DID! We are calm now. No more screaming, just a big smile on my face. Oh and when I called my DH he said he got a lot of happy screaming too! DD and her prep friends are very excited about her appointment. So, those still waiting, keep the faith and don't worry, for some the ride is just a little longer!
