I am currently reapplying to West Point. Last year I managed to make it onto the waiting list, but much to my dismay I didn't make it. I did do alright for myself, however, and was awarded with a 4 year ROTC scholarship and am currently enrolled at Ohio State.

I was wondering if there were any people with experience in applying from college rather than high school that could give me general advice. It seems most of the nomination apps and USMA apps are more geared to high school student rather than college students.

I know that I have to wait and submit my first semester (or quarter as we are at OSU) transcripts, so does that mean that I am completely beyond consideration until my quarter is finished in december?

No it doesn't, press on. The academies look very favorably upon repeat applicants who are bettering themselves since the last go around. Do well in your college coursework and you will probably have an excellent chance of admission. Best of luck to you!

Ace the first quarter, my malo asked the great lakes commander about college transcripts and he said - "If a student takes difficult classes and does well, that can significantly boost the standing of their file. I don't use "significant" lightly. Obviously varying from case to case, it could be the difference maker in whether a candidate gets an appointment or not."

Do outstanding, and you'll probably get an appt.

Anyways, see you soon at OSU buddy!
