Does anyone thing there will be a second "wave" of BFE's? My DS: No BFE, No TWE, No mail today. Are ALL of these kind of candidates the ones that were qualified, had nominations, but no vacancies?????????? Would there be a small group that they are still trying to give appointments to? This is just killing me:frown:

No news is good news! I don't believe there is a second wave. Your mail is probably just slow; many people have not heard yet. Your son should definitely receive either a BFE or the TWE very soon. Wishing you the BFE! Also remember, if TWE comes, you might get a USAFA Prep School or Falcon Scholar offer letter shortly after, which is an amazing opportunity. If my son gets one of those, he is definitely going to take it! It increases your chances of getting in next year HUGELY.

My understanding is the people that did not get appointments but were qualified will get letters shipped out later this week.

    Short answer.

    Probably not.

The "wave" that was sent out Friday could "theoretically" completely fill the class. HOWEVER...USAFA/RRS realizes that there will be declinations. So yes, there will be more sent out in the future but it will not be a "wave" rather a trickle.

I'm sure there are "some openings" that have not been filled/offered because candidates that are "that superior in WCS" are awaiting a medical waiver, or some other document that is no fault of the candidates. USAFA will "wait" on the results of those but for the LARGE portion of the class that wasn't filled, this mailing should pretty much be the bulk of it.

I wouldn't be expecting WAVES from this point on. I think it will be little pockets. They sent out the majority of appointment offers. NOW; the academy will wait and see how many turn them down. They will then send out additional BFE offers; DEPENDING on "Who" turned down the appointment. The next in line could come from a MOC slate, if it's was the MOC Slot from the slate that turned down the appointment. The Next BFE could go to someone on the National Pool list. I think you're going to hear spotted offers from here out.

I have an individual in our area who was offered an Air Force appointment. He hasn't accepted it yet. He's waiting to hear from Annapolis. He prefers the naval academy. And that's the ONLY negative in accepting an Appointment from an academy. It automatically makes you ineligible for the other academies. So he's waiting. If he turns down the air force appointment, I believe the next appointment offer will come from the National Pool. I don't believe that this individual was the Primary slot from the MOC's slates. "I could be wrong". But if he was the primary slot from the MOC slate, then the next offer will come from the MOC's slate; "If they are qualified".

I am in the same boat as you! No mail today, No BFE, No TWE! but I just called my AFA counselor and they said that people who did not receive anything yet this week will most likely be receiving the "Qualified" but "No Vacancy" letter! but, he also told me that I am being tagged for the Falcon Scholarship! hopefully I will get that letter soon!!:thumb:

We had a "Qualified but no vacancy" letter last week. It's tough to receive, but it's not the end of the world. There are many opportunities for your future. Hopefully prep or falcon. If not; enroll in college; try for ROTC; reapply next cycle if it's what you really want. Best of luck to all. mike....

Will you get notified if you do not get into prep or falcon? Or how would you find out that you didn't get it? Do you know?
    Thanks

Do you know if you get notified if you don't get into the prep or falcon? Or how would you find out? Also I didn't know there was such a thing as a "free agent", do you know anything about that?
    Thanks for all you do.

    no news is good news?

I spoke with my ALO and he told me that a decision had been made in my case but that they had not yet mailed it out. No idea what that means but it doesn't seem to fit with all the news that everything has been sent out. He also said he knew the result but wouldn't tell me....

    Did Your Portal Change?

If you look at your portal does it say prep offered?

No, not yet! My counselor said that my application was "tagged" with a falcon scholarship potential... so they are considering me for one of the slots, but that decision will be made soon. I am totally hoping to receive this slot because the Academy is definitely my final goal and I will definitely take a year's prep to succeed at the Academy!:thumb: Good luck to whoever else is waiting!!

I can possibly add something to this thread....when I spoke with DS's AFA counselor today, he looked up DS and said "his letter should be mailed next week". I pressed him to tell me what it would say, as I am leaving town in the morning and did want to leave DS and DH here to "face the mail' as they say. So he did say that "son was very qualified but "no room in the inn" (my words). I asked about reverse decisions based on declines and he said that there would likely be no replacements of the declines. He said highly unlikely , actually. So I would say that a TWE (if he is correct) means make other plans UNLESS you think your DD/DS qualifies for Falcon or Prep, in which case I understand that THOSE letters are going out next week but apparently someone already received one so who the heck knows! But I wanted to add my intel since it seemed somewhat relevant.

Just curious, Mattsmom...if that is the case, what were all of the TWE's that went out already? Were they different than "qualified no space"? Just trying to keep up my knowledge so I can be more "with the program" when DS applies next year (which is really this year!) and also to help others that come behind us!

I received two nominations, one from a rep and one from a senator - the status page still says Candidate.

The Precandadiate Booklet says most appointments are handed out in March. After the first week of April, will it be unlikely for me to receive an appointment?

I do not believe you will get notified of NOT receiving a Falcon and or Prep. Free agent means you go to Prep school (NMMI, NWP,etc.) on your own dime, no scholarship. They will help you fine tune your application and skills then reapply next year. It still increases your odds greatly for the following year appointment. Your DOD physical is good for two years so won't have to re-do that.
