Disclaimer: I am not currently nor have ever been a member of any branch of the U.S. military. Until now, it was my understanding that one had to be in the military to get a service-connected nomination.

That being said, I just got a letter from USMA informing me I have received an ROTC nomination. Is it possible the PMS at Texas A&M recommended me for a nomination after my AROTC interview?

I don't see how he could.

Given you are not enrolled in ROTC, were/are you enrolled in JROTC? Could the head of a JROTC program have nominated you without your knowledge?Perhaps this letter was misdirected? There are other speculative scenarios I can think of but speculation is of no use. I recommend calling admissions to find out what's going on.

I don't know all your details but from what I can glean from what you've posted you're still in High School, correct? If so, you received an ROTC nomination (I would assume) from your branches JrROTC units in high school.

The ROTC nomination is for both College ROTC units and High School JrROTC units (if the HS unit has met certain conditions). Only 20 slots are charged to that source but you have a nomination and you could be placed on the National List if you don't get one of those I think. There are people with far more experience and knowledge in this area and I'm sure they'll comment on the extreme details of a nomination source and how it works.

So if you're in a JrROTC unit go ask your instructor they may have sent your name up and that's how you got an ROTC nomination.

EDIT: Bah cross posted with one of those experts! Listen to Kinnem!

No, I've never been in JROTC. That's why it's confusing. I've spoken to my BGO and he can't figure it out either. I'll email Admissions tonight and see what they say.
