Service selection sheets turned in for c/o 24!!

Is that available somewhere, or given to MIDNs? I know they normally list them at some point online.
I am sure it will be made available publicly at some point. It usually is in nice graphical format with other class statistics.

Noon Eastern tomorrow I hear! They also released stats to the class today on how many slots were filled for each community and gave percentages based on OOM.

Kinda feel like I need to take the day off work tomorrow 😛🤣

P.S. My Firstie has had the AmEx Platinum for over a year now. Has come in handy for us parents too. Sure is something to be an "authorized user" on our kid's card!
Ain't no work gettin' done here tomorrow! 🤣

There was a Waldorf-Astoria near USNA in Annapolis?!

I am familiar with the original hotel (well, not the original one the Astors owned, but the next one, which I think is being converted to condos in 2024) and now the luxury brand chain in the Hilton family.
The 49 & Park incarnation has been a construction site for a number of years now. Chinese insurance company bought it from Blackstone in 2018 when Blackstone controlled Hilton and did its "garage sale" of their assets. I walk by it every day on my way from Grand Central to the office. Hilton does use the W=A brand in other locations.

I’ve seen it. It’s out there. Not sure if “public” or not, so won’t post but the stats look similar to most years. Very high percentage getting their 1st or 2nd choice. A lot of pilots!

Agree. Saw it. Definitely helps to be in the upper portions of the OOM.

Agreed.
Restricted (and SWO (Option)) numbers support the rumors they were looking at adding more opportunities to the MIDNs to go that route.
DS still seemed ok yesterday... no clue how today goes.

Good Luck to all.

Kid texted out of the blue to say that he heard they met the maximum for subs this year. He also said the sub "draft" is gone. It has to be on your selection to get chosen.
The only problem with that is that for many MIDNs, Subs HAVE to be on their list. If not PQ for aviation, I dont think there are enough choices to not put subs somewhere.

I had heard Subs were not drafting this year. The meta data shows subs had more this year than any in the past 10+ by a fairly substantial margin. (20+ above average) Apparently their recruiting officers were top notch this cycle.

What would a service assignment under the " Restricted" line entail?

CW (Cryptologic Warfare)
Medical Corps
Intel
CEC (Civil Engineering Corps)
IP (Information Professional)
Supply Corps
Oceanography
CWE (Cyber Warfare Engineer)
AMDO (Aviation Maintenance DO)

Generally for the MIDNS who are not physically qualified for any of the unrestricted communities. But, they have opened it up for more qualified ones lately.

Does restricted line officers include staff corps officers like CEC?

Hopefully the Navy will meet their sub building goals so there are boats for sub JOs to serve on. I find it interesting that during football games USMC, Army, and Air Force advertise heavily but the Navy-related marketing is for sub building civilian workers.

Based on that 60 Minutes segment earlier this year, Navy shipbuilding may be their biggest need. Maybe they need to have Shipbuilding as an inhouse service and draft JOs for it.

Speaking to a few of the midshipmen when I visited, I heard that getting USMC anything was somewhat competitive because they regularly meet the cap for commissions. Anyone know if it’s relatively competitive to go USMC ground, or if it’s just a normal option?

Draft JOs to do what? Please be specific

There is no shortage of design people for the Navy. The shortages are primarily for SKILLED Tradespeople such as welders. A secondary shortage is for actual drydocks/construction places since we've divested all of our Navy owned new-construction yards/capabilities and the private shipbuilding industry in the US has just about dried up.

I really don't see a role for newly commissioned Ensigns in this arena, EVEN IF the Navy somehow created/bought new construction shipyards. Even when we owned our own such as the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard or Long Beach Naval Shipyard, there were not actual enlisted folks or officers who did much of the work.
