If currently active duty USCG and stationed in Kodiak ,can have a car shipped to the main land when I travel to the Academy for R-Day CGAS?

Active duty daughter is going to a prep school CGAS and is currently stationed on kodiak

Oh ok. Got it. I don't have an answer, sadly.

I think it may be important to consider a couple things. While she can have a car for CGAS, she won't be able to have one from 4/c year 2/c year (at CGA or in the New London area).

Yes she does know that she can only have it at Prep not at the academy. Its a newer car she bought and knows she will loose money selling it now. She would rather have me keep it for her and try to sell it later.

First, congratulations to your daughter. That's the toughest road to mustang.

As to the car, it is probably best to check with Admissions as to whether this is a PCS. Active to CGAS is rare enough that most of us here don't know the real answer. It is possible Admissions doesn't know either. Chief Hamilton is probably your best bet (when in doubt, go to the Chief).

Has your daughter tried the YN at her unit? My guess would be that the YN would be the best place to start as they would likely have to handle any of the necessary paperwork.

From Navy perspective, any POV entitlement would be included in orders detaching from current command and directing reporting elsewhere. If Chief Hamilton is the go-to in Admissions, he or she will either know what the entitlement has been in the past, or will work the Chiefs' network and find the right person in Big Personnel who would be writing those orders. Usually, if there was an inbound POV entitlement, there will be an outbound, and HI and AK often are treated differently than the other 48 states.

Another hand raised for "Ask the Chief!"

Chief is responsible for the Scholars. She should be able to find the right YN.
