Should I do Army ROTC or Airforce ROTC in my case?

I'm majoring in computer science or might do computer engineering. I would prefer to go reserve/national guard after graduating college and OCS/OTS as a cyber officer in the army or as a cyber officer in the airforce. Which would give me a guarantee/better chance of choosing what I prefer? I know airforce has better tech but I have been hearing that afrotc doesn't not let you pick a specific mos while AROTC does??? Please help me thank you.

@pixelpie9744, haven’t you already asked this question in a couple other threads, with plenty of advice and perspective from many thoughtful posters?

What are we missing? Or maybe…what are YOU missing?

My thoughts exactly. Clearly we are not answering questions. I supplied some primary sources to research and suggested finding the appropriate officer recruiter to get accurate answers from official sources.

And please, OP, if you really want to go into the military, please use “Air Force.” Even my despised phone auto-correct changes “airforce” to the correct proper noun.

The military is not a tech school. You serve based on the needs of the military. If a cadet chooses to go Reserve Component, then there is a chance to try for one of the alphabet agencies and better zero in on a job category. One of my brothers did that, but he ended up doing background checks for a few years, and never was able to piece together enough good years in the Guard to get his 20 year letter.

Cyber today is comparable to Aviation in the 90s. It seemed like every cadet in Army ROTC wanted to fly a helicopter, but only a select few ever did.

Take this feedback as intended please....trying to help constructively. When you send emails, texts, etc to ask for help please do a grammer check before sending. I understand you are in the heat of the moment but it reflects poorly on your preparation. "Air Force" as CaptMJ pointed out, but also "doesn't not" and other examples. Not a great look and takes seconds to correct. Best of luck to you.

How do you know that Air Force has better tech? Since you want to be a Cyber Operations officer, either in the Army or Air Force, you would work under US Cyber Command on active duty which is a joint command, commanded by an Army Officer. The Deputy Commander is Air Force. Do the Airmen in Cyber Command get a computer while the Soldiers get an abacus? (I know they give the Marines crayons.)

As far as opportunities, you would most likely have more in the Army, with a higher chance of commissioning. As AFROTC has a central selection board that selects who gets to progress to MSIII year as they commission a much smaller amount than the Army. Also AFROTC commission most of its cadets onto Active Duty, where in Army you get to chose your component (USAR, ARNG, AD).

I thought for AF ROTC they made a few changes after some bad press.
They did for that year group, but the still have that centralized selection board sophomore year that ends up in the dismissal of great cadets. I am glad for it as it benefits me as I usually pick up 1-2 transfers to Army ROTC from the non-selects every year. Some of those non-selects are STEM majors with 3.0+ GPAs and good PT scores.
