Hello all,

My admissions officer contacted me to confirm my inputs of my application before it goes to the board. One of the shocking transpirations of our conversation came when I was told that she will Recommend me for NAPS.

The above question did not come to mind immediately, so I was wondering what to do IF indeed I get an offer for NAPS, I contemplate about all this hard work I've put into getting noms. Scrap it?

Other than deciding what you will do if you get a NAPS offer, I would just forget what you heard. Do EVERYTHING you can to support your application. What do you think your application will look like if you stop now? Apply to every nomination source. Accept every interview. Get a nomination.
Also, NAPS offers are not handed out early, and are often given out VERY late. I got mine about a week before NAPS started (an extreme example I'm sure). Be glad you forgot to ask that question. If I had been on the other end of the phone, I would have been 'stunned' by your question, and not in a good way. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Definitely apply for noms. There are situations where candidates who are initially recommended for NAPS/Foundations are later offered direct appointments.

My son got a hand delivered letter from the Dean of Admissions of the USNA stating that he had been accepeted into NAPS.
The Dean stated that it was good as long as he got an Nomination and kept his grades up.
Son left home and is now living in Newport, RI. :shake:

Just curious are you applying to just one academy. Why put all your eggs in one basket.

Some baskets are definitely better for your eggs. I got a NAPS appointment and kept on trucking and got a direct appointment a few weeks later.

This does happen and you're proof of it. Accepting an offer to NAPS does not preclude you from subsequently getting a direct appointment. Thus, there is no downside to accepting a NAPS/Foundation offer.
