Sick at I Day

The bottom line with any injury/illness is whether you can meaningfully participate in PS -- which is based in part on the seriousness of the injury/illness and in part on when the illness/injury occurs. Someone walking into I-Day with a broken ankle will likely be sent home. If you break your ankle on Day 2, probably same story. However, if you break your ankle in week 5 of PS, likely a different story. If you show up on I-Day with a bad cold, you're almost certainly going to be okay. Show up with pneumonia . . .

No one on this site knows the exact formula -- and even if we did, it's dependent on the medical situation of the individual plebe at the time. It's for the MDs and the Administration to sort out.

I have worked I Day many times over the years and watched the process unfold inside Alumni Hall. Every year there are 1-2 kids with their parents standing inside the Alumni with admissions discussing things. Usually it’s kids with a cast on or something significant. I have even seen them take kids to hospital point for X-rays to get a review of where their healing is at. A cold isn’t going to impact things. It would just make I Day more miserable. As mentioned it really comes down to how much will they not be able to participate in and how long.

Thank you @NavyHoops - very helpful.

Are braces allowed for I-day/Plebe summer ? I (have a shoulder waiver) use a brace for lacrosse right now for my right shoulder and am asking if I can use a shoulder brace during plebe summer. Heres an image of the shoulder brace. Screen Shot 2020-03-02 at 10.54.12 AM.png
