SLE Travel Expenses

I got accepted to SLE and I was granted financial aid for the program. However, I have to pay travel expenses. When looking for flights within the shuttle time (arrive before 12pm/depart after 2pm), the cheapest flight is $500+. Is there a way to West Point beside the shuttles, or should I look at a flight with more layovers?

Some here have stated arriving the night before. There are a couple of airport hotels that have accommodated the check-in of minors.
