I think the question was if Club sports (Coaches) have any means of "Assisting" applicants with the "Process".
While it's true that a recruited athlete (IC) can get some assistance in the application process, the only edge they might have in getting accepted, would be if they were like nationally ranked and a major athletic recruit. Most athletes playing IC sports, even though they were recruited, still had to become qualified and everything on their own; just like the other applicants. It's nice having a coach who can let you know about the process; paperwork; nominations; etc... But you can get all that and a lot more from your ALO when they are assigned to you. Again; unless you're some nationally ranked athlete being sought after by numerous schools, you don't have that much of an edge in the application process. I can say however that it was a little nicer/easier/whatever for my son on in-processing day. Being the team had met with appointee/players numerous times in the past; they had a get together breakfast the morning prior to in-processing. Then they took them all together for in-processing. Definitely helped those not feel so alone.
But as for the application process and getting the appointment, you'll get much more advice and assistance from your ALO. Matter of fact; my son had already completed his application and received an appointment before ever really talking to the coaches. Hope this helps. Get to know your ALO. Make them your best friend. later.... mike......
