Still in the game

Hey my DS got a t-shirt from
option C. But what we really want is the BFE from option A and only! I love all the support I get from all of you. No one understands what it is like to spend nearly a year on a college application and have such an angst filled wait. Thank you.

True and for most SA kids (like mine) it was MANY years of dedication, hard work and persistence in following the dream. SA appointments rarely "just happen."

The amazing thing about our kids' SA dream is that even if they don't get in, the dream drove them to strive for excellence and excel in and out of school, putting them in the position of unlimited opportunities, with Plans B and C that half the kids in their schools would die for.

Congratulations to all the kids and the families that support them!

And they won't tell you anything over the phone. I understand the anxiety so I'm hoping you all get great news soon.

They also won't tell you on their FB admissions page either.

I noticed a couple of anxious post on there today, and admissions is consistent in towing the company line, "all students will be notified of their status by April 15. Most students are notified in March/April regardless of how early they turned in their application."

Good luck everyone! From a hopeful 2019 parent.

I also noticed someone who is applying for the c/o 2019 has already received their candidate #.

California chiming in with an empty mailbox today (probably the last one of today) and closing out another day. let us all reconvene tomorrow! good luck to us all.

I love this group.

And another day begins! I truly hope we all get BFEs this week. I had six TWEs in the mail yesterday - heart stopped until I confirmed none were from USNA. This is torture! We need more comforting words from Bubalma.... Lol :)

Still waiting for my BFE, nothing in the mail today. I just want to go back to bed until the mail comes again tomorrow, then repeat until I get my BFE :frown::frown:

I like that strategy! What state are you in? I am in CA and my mail comes late so I have hours and hours to go!

Everyday I switch from being very excited to go check the mail to too anxious and I ask someone else to get it. The horror, waiting on three BFEs and only one has to come!

What are you all doing about options B and C? In option B they need a non-refundable deposit for housing to guarantee DD a dorm. I don't want to do that as things are looking positive. DD got a medical waiver and they are only sought out for competitive candidates, but I don't want to be remiss and not insure she has a place where she might end up going. Would like to limit the number of potential disappointments.

Ugggghhhh. Coming Mr. Mailman! We're in AZ and mail doesn't get to my house till after 5.

I am in the same boat as everyone else who is stalking the mailbox but have come to a sudden reality that at this point the mailbox might only bring bad news. The reason i say this is because of the MOC call. How many people actually get surprised with a BFE without a call from MOC? I know it happens but I would assume the MOC call preceding the BFE would be the rule and not the exception. This is why I almost want to stop checking the mail and pray for a call. BTW this strategy is no better as everytime the same area code of the MOC comes up on my phone my heart skips a beat. Good luck to all!

I have actually read in this sight that the call is the exception rather than the rule. I'm hoping so cause we haven't got a call either.
They also told us they would let us know if she got a nomination before Christmas and we didn't hear until mid January. We thought she was out of the running then.

Terrified,

The advice from the veterans on SAF has been to put the deposits down on plan B and maybe even C to ensure you don't miss those things like acceptance and dorm options.

After consideration, we believe this makes sense as the alternative of getting a late TWE would make plans for plan B or C that much more difficult. So, we put an acceptance deposit down and will put down the housing deposit in 2 weeks. Both are non refundable, but as other's have said, if he ends up at that school then that was a good plan. If he ends up with the BFE, then we will be so completely ecstatic, we will chalk it up to excellent preparation and yet another expense that is this SA dream and then we will move happily along.

speaking of BFE's..............for those of you that have received one from USNA, what color envelope are they? just curious

I don't think the MOC call is the norm at all. I'm still stalking the mailbox...
Prepswimmom,

Hi - tried to reply to your PM, but it says your box is full :) So in reply:

Yes, we're in MA. 3rd District. DS got a congressional nom.

I think for DS (& us) the most stressful part was the application process, - making sure everything was done & followed up, scheduling physical, CFA, interview, etc., around all the other activities already in a very full schedule!!! Just because that was in his control. He did his part, and now, it's up to God's will... which somehow takes most of the stress off. But waiting to know where he'll be is rough!!!:frown:

But we know it can't be much more than a month now.
